The pack is the entire group. The pack consists of roughly 100 scouts and their parents coming together to have a good time and to teach valuable skills to the boys. Cub Scouts -- and the cub scout pack -- is designed to teach and lead boys from age 6 (first grade) to age 10 (fifth grade) before they transistion to Boy Scouts. Our pack is formed around Forest Dale Elementary (FDE) and approximately 1 in 3 boys in the school are a part of the pack. While it's not required that a student attend FDE to be a part of the pack, most scouts in our pack are students at FDE. We meet on the second Thursday of the month at FDE in the cafeteria -- and sometimes in the Large Group Instruction (LGI) room.
The pack is organized into a set of dens. Most dens have between 6 and 10 boys. Dens meet one to three times per month depending upon the activities (and badges) they're working on. The dens will have boys in the same grade as your scout. Dens tend to form strong connections between the boys. |
