Can I come to den meetings? Parents of Tiger Cubs (First Graders) are requested to stay with their children during the den meetings. Managing a large number of smaller children and keeping them focused on learning can be challenging. Your support is needed for the scout's success. At higher ranks (Wolf, Bear, Webelos) parents are encouraged to continue to participate but it is not requested.
Can I come to pack meetings? Parents are strongly encouraged to attend pack meetings. Many times we have information specifically for parents including upcoming events, schedules, and special opportunities.
How can I get more involved? In an all volunteer organization like the pack there are always ways to plug in. From helping to run a den to supporting operations of the pack there are numerous ways to plug in. If you would like to know more about how you can help please contact the Committee Chair.
How do I get a "red pack shirt"? Generally we'll be at every meeting selling them at our cost ($10). We generally offer these red pack 123 shirts (Class B uniform) as incentives for popcorn sales so that every boy will get a shirt. If you can't find someone to buy a shirt from please contact your den leader.
How do you ensure my boy's safety? There are numerous ways that the boy's safety is ensured. Leaders are required to take Youth Protection Training and pass the assessment test. Generally each of the activities has a guide book the den leader is following which includes safety precautions.
How time consuming will this be? Minimally there's a one hour pack meeting and an hour den meeting each month. With additional activities there's additional time commitment. We're all sensitive to how much time there is available to families. We attempt to make the time that you do invest as valuable as possible to your scout's development.
Where can I get a uniform and patches? You can visit the Crossroads of America scout shop at 7125 Fall Creek Road North, Indianapolis, IN 46256 or call them at 317-813-7070. You can also shop online at http://www.scoutstuff.org. We encourage you to purchase at least a shirt, and optionally a belt and cap. Boys will not be denied access to an event if they don't have a shirt, however, they'll want to have a place for their patches. You need only purchase the pack and den number patches. All patches and belt loops which are given as awards will be paid for by the pack.
Who is your chartering organization? Every Cub Scout Pack has a chartering organization which is responsible for helping the pack be successful and frequently providing a legal entity for the pack to operate under. Pack 123 is proud and greatful to have the Carmel Rotary Club as our sponsor.
